Jabalpur is easy to place on the map: central Madhya Pradesh, on the Narmada, with its own airport, a main railway station that is also the headquarters of a railway zone, and national highways. By air
The airport is called Jabalpur Airport, and also Dumna Airport; its IATA code is JLR [2]. It is owned and operated by the Airports Authority of India, whose page lists nearby tourist places, including the Rani Durgavati Museum, Bhedaghat and Madan Mahal Fort [3]. The distance from the city is printed as about 20 km by Wikipedia’s city page and by the district administration [1][4], and as 25 km by the airport’s own Wikipedia page [2]. The AAI page gives no distance [3].
Airlines and destinations are the least stable fact on this page. Wikipedia’s city page lists Alliance Air, IndiGo and SpiceJet [1], the airport page lists only Alliance Air [2], and the district site lists a different set of cities [4]. We do not repeat any route as fact. Check the airline or the airport directly before you book.
By rail
Jabalpur is the headquarters of West Central Railway, and one of its three divisional headquarters [1]. The main station is Jabalpur Junction, code JBP [5]. Wikipedia counts five major stations in the city, with Madan Mahal in the centre, about 3.7 km from the Junction [1][5]. It also mentions Vande Bharat services from the Junction, for example towards Indore, Rewa and Bhopal [5], but gives no timings. Check train numbers, timings and the station of arrival on Indian Railways.
Travel-site figures give a rough idea of journey times: Bhopal to Jabalpur by train about 4 hours 58 minutes [8], Jabalpur to Nagpur by direct train about 9 hours 35 minutes [7]. These are aggregator estimates, not timetables.
By road
The district site says National Highway 7 runs through Jabalpur [4]. Wikipedia lists four-lane NH 45 to Bhopal, NH 34 to Nagpur and NH 30 to Varanasi and Mandla [1]. The numbers differ between sources, so do not build a drive around a number from here; use a current map.
Distances, as printed by travel aggregators and not official: Nagpur about 276 km by road, with a drive of about 4 hours [7]; Bhopal about 319 km (the page does not say whether this is road distance) [8]; Delhi 700+ km [9]. Another travel site prints Bhopal at 300 km [10], so treat 300 to 320 km as the range. Wikivoyage notes that daily buses run from places including Nagpur, Katni and Bhopal, though that page is dated [6].
Within and around Jabalpur
Wikivoyage describes cycle rickshaws as the most common way to travel inside the city, and says taxis for trips to Bhedaghat, Bandhavgarh and Kanha are available at the railway station and hotels. It advises getting quotes from more than one provider [6]. Other pages report buses and shared autos to Bhedaghat; see the Bhedaghat day trip for what is and is not confirmed. We found no official fare chart for autos, taxis or city buses, so none is listed.
For a sense of scale, the Gwarighat ghat is reported about 9 km from the Junction, and Bhedaghat is printed between 14 and 33 km depending on source; see Gwarighat for the detail. The tiger reserves are longer trips: see Kanha and Bandhavgarh.
